Kejser Akihito af Japan (født 23. december 1933) er den 125. og nuværende kejser af Japan. Han overtog tronen, da hans far, Showa-kejseren, døde 7. januar 1989, og blev formelt monark d. 12. november 1990. Kejser Akihito har tre børn, og hans søn Naruhito er kronprins.
Blandt japanere bliver han aldrig omtalt ved sit navn. Inden sin tronbestigelse var han kendt som Tsugu-no-miya, Tsugu-prinsen, og nu om stunder kaldes han Tennō Heika, kejseren. Hans æra kaldes Heisei, og efter sin død vil han derfor blive kendt som Heisei-kejseren.
Kejser Akihito af Japan er siden den 15. marts 2007 Kommandør af Storkorset af Trestjerneordenen.
