Najaf (arabisk النجف) kaldes også An-Najaf eller Nejef. Det er en by i Irak og hovedstaden i Najaf. Den ligger på positionen 31° 59′ 21" N, 44° 19′ 28" Ø, dvs.omkring 160 km syd for Bagdad. Byen havde 482.583 indbyggere pr. 1.1.2005. Byen er en af de syv hellige byer i Shia Islam, og den er et centrum for shiamuslimernes politiske magt. Najaf blev efter sigende grundlagt i 791.

Byen er berømt for den hellige moske, Imam Ali-moskeen, der er opkaldt efter Imam Ali, stifteren af shiaislam. Najaf er derfor endemål for mange pilgrimsrejser.
