Melbourne er en australsk by med 4 millioner indbyggere (2009). Den er hovedstad i staten Victoria, hvor den er den største by. I Australien som helhed er det den næststørste by, kun overgået af Sydney. 1901-1927 var Melbourne Australiens hovedstad.

Byen var som den første australske by nogensinde vært for OL i 1956.
