    For the NSA, espionage was a means to strengthen the US position in climate negotiations

    At the Copenhagen Climate Summit in 2009, the world's nations were supposed to reach an agreement that would protect future generations against catastrophic climate change. But not everyone was playing by the rules. A leaked document now reveals that the US employed the NSA, its signals intelligence agency, to intercept information about other countries' views on the climate negotiations before and during the summit. According to observers, the spying may have contributed to the Americans getting their way in the negotiations

    Forsvarets Efterretningstjeneste indgår i et partnerskab med NSA om at tappe danske fiberkabler med tele- og internettrafik, fremgår det af tophemmelige NSA-dokumenter.     Flere lande end hidtil kendt er involveret i NSA’s globale masseovervågning

    Danmark og Tyskland er tilsyneladende blandt de lande, der deltager i et hidtil ukendt samarbejdsprogram om overvågning mellem NSA og en række såkaldte tredjepartslande. Ved at give adgang til fiberkabler er disse lande med til at muliggøre den verdensomspændende amerikanske spionage
    Den største lyttestation uden for USA og Storbritannien, Bad Aibling i Sydtyskland, blev drevet af NSA frem til 2004. Ifølge Snowden-dokumenter opererer NSA fortsat fra stationen, som nu hører under den tyske efterretningstjeneste BND.
